Hello and welcome!

Nordic Soul Interiors is a boutique interior design and lifestyle studio in South London, focusing on resourceful design with a minimal waste approach. We specialise in residential projects, focusing on furniture repurposing and sustainable solutions.

A sustainable mindset and resourceful decorating does not in any way mean you will have to compromise on style. On the contrary - reusing, repurposing, and editing existing elements, furniture and accessories will inject personality to an interior. It will also save money so that investment in higher quality items or materials is possible, when there is a need to purchase new.

When buying an item, invest in something you really love and always consider its longevity. It is very easy to be seduced by the latest trends and high-street prices, but what happens once the trend has gone out of fashion? It is a much more sustainable (and economical) approach to invest in high quality classic pieces that will stand the test of time.

We live by the mantra ‘Let’s work with what we’ve got first and then see what else needs investing in’. We ask ourselves ‘What can be reused and how can it be repurposed or changed to meet our clients needs, suit their lifestyle and taste?’

This way of thinking is also important in sustainable renovations - embrace the old in the new and let the interior tell the story of the place and the people living there.

“Using vintage items in your home is a great way to add some real personality. Whether they're items you've owned for a long time or things that you've picked up from a vintage store, antique items undeniably add character to your home and make it feel personal. That's why adding a few vintage items to your living room is one of the top ways to elevate the space.” - Nate Berkus

We believe interior design should be accessible, bespoke and true to whom you are. It is your home so it should be uniquely yours, tailored to your needs and the kind of life that you lead.

I am Charlotta, founder of Nordic Soul Interiors.

My love of design started many years ago and has taken me on a journey through fashion and makeup, product design, furniture renovation, interior styling and design. Over the past 20 years I have lived in and called Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai and now London my home. Being Swedish, my design style is firmly grounded in the combination of beauty, functionality and cosiness of the Scandi style, but influenced by elements of other cultures and places. My own home is an eclectic mix of the places I have lived and things that I love.

I am passionate about finding solutions that are incorporating, where possible, existing elements/furniture/décor rather than buying everything new.  Re-purposing, up-cycling or simply restyling your much-loved pieces can do this. Not only does this inject personality into the design, but it also points to the core of a sustainable lifestyle.

I recommend treating your home as a collection, where pieces can be mixed and matched in various constellations to create different looks over time. Using pieces that you love, cherish, and that have a special memory attached to them will not only create a truly unique, and interesting interior but you are also less likely to want to change a décor that has personality and reflects your life and what you love. A bonus is that this approach will at the same time create a cohesive look that flows seamlessly from room to room linking spaces and bind them together as a whole to create a unique, unified and harmonious home.

I truly believe a home should tell the story of who you are, and be a showcase of things that you love. It should show your journey through life and be a sanctuary that makes you feel good, safe and happy. We have a saying in Sweden ‘Borta Bra men Hemma Bäst’, which loosely translates to ‘Being away we LIKE, but being at home we LOVE’.

Whether you are looking for a full room design, spatial planning, need help incorporating antique and vintage furniture into your current design, are looking to refurbish existing furniture or something else big or small, please get in contact to discuss your project and find out how I can help.

OUR VALUES

Integrity

We believe in honest, open communication. We also have complete transparency for fees and prices, so that there are no surprises or hidden expenses for our services.

Collaboration

We believe in working together. You are the most important person for this project. It is your vision and your dreams that need to be realised and there is no way any designer can do that without fully collaborating with its clients. We also take pride in building strong long-term relationships with suppliers and tradespeople. We are better and stronger together.

Sustainability

It is about tomorrow starting right now. We want to help to build a sustainable future for generations to come. We do this by making an educated choice, for our future, every step of the way.

Individuality

We are all different, so of course there is no ‘fit all’ solution to designing a room. We do not believe in following trends just because they are the latest vogue. We believe in following and embracing the personality of the people that are using the space. This is what makes your home – YOUR HOME.
