What to expect

The Design Process

It is important to know what to expect at the different stages as it is important that you are onboard and happy with the direction of the project so that the final outcome is living up to your vision. These are the four steps in my design process.

1.

A Proper Foundation

After the initial contact we will set up a consultation either face-to-face or virtually via video call.

This stage is all about discovery and getting to know you, who you are, how you live, your style, what you like and dislike and your expectations of the project. This way the design is completely tailored to you and your needs and ensures your personality shines through in the design.

You will be asked to fill in a project brief and questionnaire that we will discuss during the consultation.

At this stage the space need to be properly measured up.  This will be done either by me or I will explain to you how to do it, if the consultation is done virtually.

2.

Building the framework

The design development will start with a concept. The design concept is the central theme that all the design elements are focused upon and it is developed from the information obtained in the client brief. A concept board is a visual presentation of the style, mood, colours and textures that I want to use in the room.

This is an important tool to help explain the design direction and the mood and feel of the final result.

The design concept can be seen as the framework for all the design decisions. During this stage I will also look at space planning and draw up floor plans.

3.

Detailing the design

Once the concept is agreed. I will start develop the design in detail. Depending on which package you have opted for; I will produce a design board, furniture layouts, product boards and elevations. This is where the design comes to life and you will be able to visualise the completed look of the room. The detailed design will be reviewed and we will discuss it down to the very last detail including colours, fabrics, furniture and accessories.

The review give you a chance to ask questions, make suggestions, highlight your preferences and any modifications you might have.

Completion / Hand over

"This is the moment of truth; this is where your dream room becomes reality. I will supply you with a shopping list for your items with links to where you can purchase them. Depending on which package you have chosen, I will either come and style the room for you or you will be handed all the information and tips you need to be able to complete the project yourself. If you have opted for the full interior design package, I will liaise with tradesmen throughout, source and purchase all the products and finally install and style the scheme.
